here is an idea. sell your stock springs since they are racing beats im sure that someone will buy them from you. while you are waiting for them money buy the springs you want and put them on a credit card or store credit or whatever. and then when you recieve the money from that money towards your new springs. im pretty sure nobody is gonna want to buy a set of mp3 springs that are hacked!

You can't cut your stock springs. They are linear and will not sit back correctly. You should only cut progressive springs as the spring will still seat properly afterwards.
The only way to do it properly is to lower the lower spring perch. Which is impossible on your stockers without welding. Rishie |
do it the RIGHT WAY.....don't hack up your springs....if you want to lower it...fine...save the clams and get the right springs to do the job the RIGHT way the first time....otherwise....if you lower it this way with the intentions of getting the lowering springs anyway....then you will have to take everything apart AGAIN...not to mention having the car aligned AGAIN....more time and money WASTED....

Hey Justin, how many miles do they have on them? I might be interested in your stock springs if you want to upgrade to something else. Give me a decent deal on them, don't cut them! Buy a lowered set of springs instead. PM me or email me.

Ditto man
I'm interested in your stock MP3 springs too. email me

You drive an MP3 and you want to cut the springs?
Wow... that's really stupid. You're about to take one of the best handling cars on the road and completely mess it up. Enjoy yourself. :dunno: |
Ahhh dont listen to them. If you wanna cut em go for it. Hell I purchased H&R sport springs (the right way), and I'm fittin to chop the front ones as soon as I get my damn sub enlosure in the back. As it is right now my car sits a little high in the front, and I'm waiting for the back to be completely settled down before I level that bitch out. I'm fixin to cut about a 1/4 coil or so. Dunno, just what I've always done is try to look under there when the spring iscompressed is compressed, and try to take my best guess. Although on your first cut it is always better to make a cut too short, as it is easy to cut it agian. But if you cut too much, well good luck reattaching it. And yeah Psudo whatever the hell his hard to type name is right. Don't use heat, use a saw or a freakin grinder. Its not gonna compromise your ride that bad if you only take a little. Sure it might not be "the optimal configuration" but how the hell often do you ever drive your car to the point when you need every last bit of performance out of your setup anyway? Oh well just my opinion, as long you ain't droppin like 3 or 4 coils out of that mug you'll be fine.

just use a bit a baleing wire and some duct tape, that ought to work out real nice ;) ;)
if you do decide to cut the springs you have to use an abrasive type blade to cut spring steel. it will peel the teeth right off a hack saw:p |
I don't get it, you list coil overs as one of your mods and you're asking how to cut the springs. This is a joke, right?
