Grease Fittings?
I have searched the forum and only found one reference to grease fittings, and that was saying that there are not any on our cars.
I was wondering if anyone can confirm that there are not any grease fittings on our suspensions? I have taken a look and cant easily see any, but I just want to be sure. I have been having a slight creaking noise while going over speed bumps slowly. I have a 2000 protege ES and it only has 16000 miles on it. Any ideas about what the noise may be if there are not any fittings? Thank you. |
There are no grease fittings on a BJ Protege. I have read the FSM and extensively checked under the car. Actually, I challenge you to find one on *any* late-model Jap car. The only place I've ever seen them is on aftermarket ball joints.
BTW the squeak is a common problem. It seems to come from the strut, and usually only on the right-hand side of the car. AFAIK nobody has found a solution for it. |
Thank you for your reply. This is the first Japanese car I have owned. My others were always American, and now also Swedish (Volvo), but I haven't looked for them in the Volvo yet.
Thanks for the strut info too. I am sort-of glad to hear that it is common and therefore probly not going to cause damage. On another note, is there anything special I have to do other than the oil change and air filter change for the 15000 mile checkup. I usually do these things myself, especially since the dealer wants $250 for this. |
I´m glad I´m not the only one that hears a squeak coming from the right side strut.
I thought it was a problem with my car only. |
