GC coilovers.. do i still need..?
 

I'm considering getting my car lowered about an 1 inch with the GC coilovers and i'm not sure if i'll need new struts ... any help here would be great.

If you just want 1" drop, might as well just buy the Eibach or HR springs. There is no reason to spend extra money. Also this keeps your alignment to a one time deal. Food for thought. And in my opinion I do not think you need new struts.

so if i just get a 1" drop my stock struts will be fine ? i was told that if i changed my springs it's not good for stock struts, and that i should just get coilovers.. maybe i was misinformed.

btw, hows the compustar ss pager? i got the 2wfm one and the only thing i wish it had was a vibrating mode.

I was under the impression that you have a change your struts if you were thinking about putting springs on to lower your car. I'm confused now:(

I lowered my P5 this weekend 4 inches with SKUNK2s' and I am running the factory struts. It rides quite stiff, but that is what I wanted. I will post before and after pics as soon as I figure out how to do it. Quite a big difference. Later:rolleyes:

Do P5s really have 4" of bump travel in the front (or the back)? I don't think you'd be on the bump stops... more like on the end of the strut travel.

I had to cut the factory bumpstops down to about an inch, but i do have about an inch of play. It is not much, but the car is freakin slammed. I tuck the whole back tire, and about the top tread on the front. The car sits level, the fenders in the front are just shorter, so the back tucks a lot more. The tiny black plastic deflector that hangs down at the rear of the side ground effects, sits 2.5 inches off the ground. It is so fun to drive. Later.:D

If you want COIL-OVER. JIC,TEIN, ZEAL,H&R is what you looking for.

I would NOT put the GC coil-over on any car i have.

If 1' drop is what you want.
Lowing spring will give your a much much better ride and $$.

Zeal doesn't make coilovers for the BJ chassis. Tein will probably be your best bet once they are released in late October hopefully. The JIC are going to be here in the next couple of weeks providing things go smoothly. The H&R's are good too. The TEIN's will be the cheapest of the bunch at about $1050 with upper mounts. The JIC's will be the most expensive depending on which ones you get. The top dog FLT-A2's go for a whopping $1850 and I beleive you may have a hard time getting them for anything less than $1750 since the retailers that sell JIC are few and far between. These are just my thoughts though.
