Clunking noise
 

Well, I've finally installed my MP3 struts on my P5. The ride is definitely improved over the stock shocks with my Eibachs. However, whenever I turn the wheel from a stop and accelerate slowly i.e. parking/backing out of a parking spot, there is a fairly loud clunking noise coming from the front left corner. I've removed the wheel and checked all the bolts, checked the CV's for rips/tears,checked the sway bar, and retorqued the lug nuts. Nothing seems to be out of place. The install went very smooth, and I didn't run into any trouble at all. It all looks fine under there. I don't really want to reinstall the stock shocks and springs to bring it down to the dealer for warranty work. The car doesn't drive abnormally, and there is no vebration at highway speeds, everything is perfect except for this noise. Anyone have a clue as to what I should check next? Could I have maybe damaged a ball joint?

Does the clunk happen as soon as you start the turn? If you wiggle the wheel does it go, clunk, clunk, clunk?

One ideal is check the dead stops, I think they have rubber or plastic on them, maybe the rubber came off you are hitting the stop?

The noise only happens when the car is moving at low speeds or from a stop with the wheels turned.

I finally figured out the problem. The bushing on the top of the shock wasn't fully seated and was binding when the wheels were turned. I took the entire shock/spring assembly apart, and put it all back together again. I also added some grease on the bushing just in case. Everything's as smooth as silk now.
