Caliper lubrication

One of the things mentioned in Mazda service menu ( and charged for thru the nose ) is "lubricate caliper slide rails/pins".

I have a feeling this is the pin that the brake calipers are mounted on, or pivot around.

Does any one have any pics about this, or how to lube it yourself? I'd imagine you just buy a brake-specific grease in a parts store.

Thanks for all input!

I have never had a problem with the brakes staying engaged (which would be the problem with lack of lubrication), but if you change the pads yourself it is easy to do. reffering to the front pads: You have to remove that "through-bolt" to pivot the caliper away from the rotor, that is what needs to be lubricated + the other through bolt that the caliper pivots on...I would think any high-temp grease would do fine, but do some more research before you do the work...The rear calipers are similar...

Ahh, OKie. The only reason I am concerned is that this is the only part of the 24K service ( $400 CDN ) that I cannot or would not do on my own ( the oil change is not worth your own hassle without a hoist on this car ).

Thanks!
