Brake Ducting?

has anyone jury-rigged any ducting to cool the front brakes? I'm on a quest to reduce brake fluid temp for the next track day.

i'm using ford 550 degree brake fluid but it's not enough. i don't think motul 600 would be either w/o the help of ducting.

Thanks for any tips/photos!
an.

hmmmmmmmm are you overheating your brakes while racing????? i have had no problems while autoxing with brake fade, tell us more bout the situation.

by "track day" i mean raceway track not autox

ok great, but yor still not giving any info on why you need ducting for your brakes, i had no idea you were doing 190mph on the track.

um....what brake mods have you done that would over heat your brakes? I've spent a day (full day) rallying about in the woods left braking the whole time and NEVER faded them.....and mine are stock.....

fluid gets hot (mushy) due to heat transfer from pads. That's why i need brake cooling (i'm already close to the highest temp fluid). SS lines may help feel but not temp.

my brakes are stock. i'd say most stock cars have fluid boil probs when raced on a track w/ 15 min sessions of repeated heavy braking under high speed.

interested in Brembo rotors?? check vendor section.

Not be a jerk...but have you ever driven on a track? i've taken all of my cars from E30 M3's to 2.0 Jetta's on the track and not had fluid fade....as long as your fluid is fresh and the proper DOT rating your fine, if your worried about get ATE SuperBlue and use that, use upgraded pads and slotted rotors as well....I've driven stock brakes at numerous tracks and been fine....unless your riding the brake pedal or your fluid is old...you should be fine...
also....brake ducts are to cool the rotors and pads...not the fluid

tell me then, what heats up fluid if it ain't hot pads and rotors?

yeah, i've raced at multiple tracks:
road america
pr/sir
pir
mission
bremerton

fluid is bled after each event. like i said, high temp ford 550 degree dry bp.

btw, i presume y'all know the difference betw fluid fade and pad fade (which i don't get).

I get what your saying everbruin.....get some SS brakelines, this will help with pad response and some cross drilled and slotted rotors can help with temps too....if you want some really good rotors get some cryo treated ones...cops use them, they are bad a$$!!

Roddimus Prime June-30th-2004 02:50 PM

macdaddy....don;t you think the rotors I'm selling would be just as good!! (wink wink)..

macdaddyslomo June-30th-2004 04:04 PM

hey dork, read my post again :bt:...I sugested the S/CD rotors, besides, cryo treated are rediculously expensive...your rotors are much more cost effective....I'll tell you like a tell my boss at work when he asks me about an account...READ THE NOTES :D

Roddimus Prime June-30th-2004 04:12 PM

hahaha, I read that but I thought you were suggesting buying cryo-treated rotors...

ANYWAY!! if you'd like a nice brake upgrade check me out.
