Back disc brakes
Hello mazda fans out there.
I was wondering if any one knew how to put disc brakes on the back of me protege, it only has drums and i find when i try to "smoke em up" the drums cant stop the car from moving, i need to know what is involved to do this change. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/fc33cd01.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/members/20omz |
Look for an Astina that has 4 lug wheels and rear disc brakes at a salvage yard. Pull the brake lines, side brake cables, and spindles (it should be attached with the brake caliper, disc rotor, dust shield, and wheel hub). You might want to consider getting the master cylinder and brake booster also, as it is different on the 4 disc cars

Yes, I've done it on a U13 Nissan Altima (Bluebird/Almera downunder). Not hard
I have a parts list, but I'll just post pics of major parts you'll need later |
if the aussie line up is similar to the European one, then the 1.8l model will probably have rear discs... that's the GLX in Europe

If you're going to burnout, make sure you've got some decent weight in the trunk I will have to find 3 huge people and put them in the back if i want to do it or get a load of bricks from Work and shove them in there. Cant put any thing in the boot though is got vinyl all through it, thanks again, by the way my name Is Rick or my friends call me Tricky. Thanks again and Remember to Zoom - Zoom - Zoom http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/fc33cd01.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/members/20omz |
Sorry guys, the Slowtege is not a burnout machine. If you need to weigh down the back to smoke em... That should tell you something.

And I forgot to say, I've smoked mine before.
Lock the e-brake. Hold down the brake ALL the way. Gun it till the brakes are just about to let go.. And jump off the brakes and keep the hammer down. Try it out. |
Already tried that
I have already tried that hey, my hand brake is rooted hey, thats why i want to change it do disc. slowtege now thats funny, thats the first time i have heard of that one!!! every body on this forum has probably done a burnout, it just some people dont let smoke come up between the front gaurds LOL.

Originally posted by 20OMZ Have you tried it have ya, id be worried parking in wet cement, the car would probably spit the dummy and id have to chisel the car out with a jack hammer. bleach on top of the tyres, dont get it. do you paint it on do ya????? |
Ill give it a shot
I tried doing it on wet cement and all i got was the usual Axel jumping and forward movement. Ill have to try that bleech trick though, does it stain the tyres at all if you leave it on??

Depends on the bleach. It might, be careful. (Even so, you'll end off wearing it off while driving so I doubt it'd be a problem)
