B&G Coilovers

I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with B&G Coilovers. They are "true" coil overs with monotube gas struts and height adjustability from 1.5 - 3.5 inch drop. They're available for all third gen proteges for around $1050 for the set. We are just taking on the line, so other than a little info here and there, I don't know much about the company or their product. As I can buy for less than list price, these would be a good solution for me - if they're any good. I checked the FAQ and neither B&G springs nor coilovers were listed for 3rd gens. Thanks for the info!

I find it hard to believe that nobody has heard of B&G. They've been around a long time....

The main site is:

however, it's kind of unifinished - especially the application guide. Not too many people carry B+Gs, but I've heard some good things about them.

We've used B&G suspension on some Porsches. however we found the JIC suspension, even the twin tube model to handle better than them.

The gentleman I'm speaking of is Tavis Tan, sales manager for AXIS wheels.

You can get the JIC FLT-A2 which is right here:

You get a pretty phenomenal deal on these. The key is the fact that you can lower the car without sacrificing your ride quality at all. The height adjustment is done by moving the shock bracket rather than changing spring preload or lowering the lower spring perch.

These are what I and Sean put on our Proteges. They retail for $1880.00.

You get a good couple hundred dollars off that price.

Rishie - I have no doubt that the JIC Coilovers work better, however even at a couple hundred dollars off (say $1600) they would still cost almost $1000 more than what I can get the B+G coilovers for. Considering that I'm not going to be racing much (if at all), do you think that for the money the B+Gs are the way to go? I've never really heard much about the company until we took on the line, so I don't really know if they're worth it. I would rather spend more on something that works great than less on something that sucks. I guess I'm looking for a rating. For example: if the JIC coilovers are 10 on a scale of 1-10, are B+G coilovers an 8, or more like a 4? Thanks for your help!

Other questions - do the pillow ball mounts on the JICs give the car a harsh ride? Are the sway bar tabs solid enough to handle beefier sway bars (AWR or Mazdaspeed)?

Only thing i did really find out is that they are not damping adjustable. I will be in touch with them again to get the spring rates. He had called when I was out of the office.

He did however send us information to get these at a good price.

Peace, Rishie

Cool. Thanks for taking the time to do some research! When I'm in the market for a new set of wheels/coilovers (if we don't already carry the line), I'll be sure to contact you first!
