Autocross wheel and tire setup for MSP
 

I need a specific set of wheels and tires for my MSP but I am having a hard time finding what I need. PLEASE HELP!

Racing in stock class so my limitations are same size wheel as stock and no more than .25" offset.

The stock size and offset for the MSP is 17X7" +55 offset, 5/114.3mm bolt pattern. I guess the stock Racing Harts weigh about 25lbs a piece, which is rediculously heavy. I'm going to use the stock set for everyday driving and I want to purchase a specific set for autocross only.

I would like the wheels to weigh less than 16lbs a piece and use a tire no more than a 225 width. The stock tire size is 215/45/17, so I could also go to a lower profile. I already found out from a couple MSP owners that the Falken Azenis will not fit and rubb the inside of the wheel well.

Any one know a wheel that would fit these specs. And no, I wont go to a different size wheel and race in a different class (this has been my recomendations so far from everyone else I have talked to).

rota slipstreams, tires of choice right now are the Hoosiers, the azenis rub becuase of the built in rim protector, my 205 azenis are closer to 215 in width

I tried finding Rota Slipstreams but I couldn't find the size I need(17X7" with a 49 or 48mm offset).

Do you know where I could find a set?

hrmmm, didn't notice your width....you may have to drop big $$ for SSR's, or go cutom style and use those custom alluminum wheels ala dirt and circle track cars...any offset, width and diameter you could want...look in the back of Sports Cars or Grass Roots Motorsports

Yup, been there done that. Had a Honda... I broke it. Had a Toyota... I broke that. My friend had a Neon... we both broke that. Bought a Mazda... it didn't brake, so I bought another Mazda.

I don't give a shit if it drives fast in a strait line, I had a Camaro SS, it was plenty fast in a strait line. Any idiot can drive fast in a strait line, it takes a good car and a good driver to drive fast through chaos. I'm completely happy with my Mazda and if I drive something better, I'll have to buy it and try to brake it too.

I don't waist my time being a cheerleader for some company name, I just drive what works. For right now, the piece of metal I owne works just fine, and my winning numbers testify to that.

Honda boy also can't spel two guud neither. Handel? Some quotes from Car & Driver: "Hey, who put Insight tires on my Civic Si?" (commenting on Honda's penchant for putting Way-Too-Small wheels and tires on what are supposed to be "performance" versions of their models, in a road test of the amazingly fugly new Civic Si). Here's another: "Something new from Honda, a Loser" (commenting on the 2002 Civic LX from a 10 car econo-box comparo, where the Civic finished 5th, and the Protege LX finished first...BTW the Honda was slower 0-60 too). I suppose I could be like every booger nosed sophmore on the planet and slap a "performance muffler" and 30 lb 19" wheels on a roached-out Civic and think that I'm God's Gift To High Performance Driving, but it's too much fun whipping the sh*t out of those same sophmores at the local SCCA autocross events in a lowly Mazda Protege. Honda does build some fine reliable cars, and some are faster indeed, but why be a sheep? :)

The solution for you is this and feel free to contact me for further information. I'm assuming, and haven't read the whole thread, but you're running stock class and most likely are limited to stock width, 7" and offset within 5-6mm. This would put you at a

17x7 +50 offset, let's say. The wheel of choice for you would be a .................
