Anyone Who Owns Jic Coil-overs For P5, Please Help

Hi,

I own a 2002 P5, and I live in Sydney/Australia. I just had a set of the JIC FLTA2 Coil-Overs shipped out to me and my mechanic has been trying to install it and set it up for the last two days, but we are having some problems.

I took the car home last night, but the ride was TERRIBLE. It feels like driving a Kart. The car is very bouncy and it virtually throws me around in the car, my kidney actually hurt for a bit last night. I can feel every little crease in the road and if I go over large bumps or ditches in the road there is a loud bang and I’m thrown around the car again, it kind of sound like the rear shocks are bottoming out. My mechanic says that he has the dampening set at full soft, but he even acknowledges that it definitely isn't right and something is wrong. We are pretty sure that we have the right part, so therefore it must be the way he has set it up. He has installed many coil-overs before, but he said he has never done one like this before. We can't even be 100% sure he has installed and set it up right because the kit doesn't come with instructions, JIC told us they are still translating the manual from Japanese to English.

One little observation, on the front shocks the adjustment knob is sticking out pretty far. My mechanic said that if he lowers the shock any more, to gain more travel, the knob will hit the CV shaft. Can the knob be removed?

Can any one give any advice? What might be causing this? Also can someone please explain what the procedure in tunning the dampening is? Do you go full hard and then 15 clicks anti-clockwise to get full soft? Someone told me that if you go past the 15 clicks towards soft that it's not going to work properly.

Thanks.
