Annoying suspension groan

Howdy all,

My 99 ES has a minor but annoying suspension groan coming from the right front corner. Basically, when you hit a large bump (like a speed bump or pothole) it makes an "erk" noise that sounds like it's coming from underneath the car. The sound doesn't occur during normal driving, and seems to get better if the car has been driven for a few minutes.

Since it sounds like a rubber groan, I think it might be the forward control arm bushing. Since the car has somewhat high mileage (65k) I think they may be wearing out a little bit. I've already greased the swaybar bushings.

Just curious if anyone else has encountered and successfully fixed this problem. I don't really feel like pulling the whole front suspension apart to get rid of a little groan, so I'll probably ignore it if it's too difficult to fix :)

I had a problem like this once....and after a while did something similar to what the menace did....found it to be the spring shifting slightly on its seat....did the same thing...shot some silicone spray on it and PRESTO CHANG-O....all was quiet. :{D

What sort of silicone spray, and where did you get it?

TIA!

I got the Silicone spray at the local parts store....its in a spray can just like WD-40....only its a silicone based lube. I don't even remember the brand.....

Im not sure if I would use silicone on a rubber bushing. Silicone attacks some types of rubber. (im just guessing its rubber) Maybe lithium grease or something with PTFE in it??
