ABS and BRAKE light after Spring install.

A friend of mine helped me put my new springs on yesterday. After we were finished and took it for a drive, I noticed my ABS and BRAKE lights both are on and stay on. I thought maybe he bumped a sensor or something. He checked the lines and everything looks ok. I disconnected the NEG battery cable too to reset the ECU and that did'nt help either. Is there anything else I can try? Or should I head to the dealer. You just don't know how they'll act since you've taken those precious stock parts off your car. any help would be great.

You will probably need to have the ABS computer scanned. There is a connector under the dash for this purpose, but it requires a special scan tool. You will probably have to go to the dealer for this.

As far as things that you can check on the car, double-check your wheel sensor connections and check the ABS rotors on the hubs for damaged or missing teeth. Then check the clearance between the sensors and the rotors. The correct clearance is 0.3-1.1 mm.

Good luck! :D

just happened to me to..

But mine is because the ABS Brake sensor wire was pulled away from the sensor.. The part at Mazda here cost me $164.34..

Can someone find a Part # for this thing, or see if they can get it cheaper..

How long has it been since you changed your springs?

Is everything still working fine??

Later..

You can check the resistance of abs-sensor by yourself. Resistance should be ~1.4kOhm if the sensor is ok. I had to chance my rear-left -sensor last summer and an original Mazda part was 75U$D. But first check that the connectors ain't loose.
