Workshop Manual

Does anyone know where I can find a workshop manual for a
2002 Mazda Protege?

well if you want a REAL manual....try your dealer.....but you may be surprised at the price for a REAL service manual

I have contacted my local dealership and they said that they
no longer carry workshop manuals for any 2002 Models.I
was told by parts departmnet that it was only available
on computer for the mechanics only. What's up with that?
Do they know what they are talking about??

As of June 10th, they still make it. I have a feeling they're screwing with you. I forget the part #, but it's in the back of your owners manual.

I e-mailed Mazdastuff.com, and they quoted me $125 plus $5 shipping. I'm still debating whether or not it's worth it.

If you REALLY want to know how things are put together on our cars, get the shop manual. There are things that they don't cover as far as individual parts specs but it tells you how to work on everything. They even give you scope patterns to check individual outputs on the ECU. The book is about 4" thick.

do a search on this site...

to find out all the messages regarding this topic (including my own ramblings). Try "shop manual". Messages include part numbers, and frustrations with trying to actually get the manuals. I have had one (for P5) on order for two weeks, and have yet to see anything.

When I had my 1978 280Z, I went to the library and they had a shop manual in archive. I just paid $2.00 for the copies of the pages I wanted. Muahahhahaha~!

Workshop manual finally arrived...

I spoke too soon. Later yesterday UPS man brought a new Protege-P5 2002 workshop manual, all 1000 or so pages. Current manual is now softcover bound. Paid $120 + $5 shipping from Mazda South, Austin, TX.

hmmm

i went to the dealer today to replace a blown taillight fuse 7440, and they asked me about 5 times if i was sure that the blwn fuse i had in my hand had come from the taillight cause they couldn't find it--wtf?.we went over to the ford desk to see if they had it...clueless also..finally the guy even showed me the computer where the shop manual has been stored and the bulb numbers were totally different (maybe they are switching to computerised shop manuals?)..anyways..i told the guy to search for the number on the bulb..7440..and he found it straight away..dumbass:p

is it true that the astinas and the proteges have different tailight bulbs??
