Wierd Noise
Hello All,
Just got my P5 and loving it but weird thing is happening. I'm getting a popping sound that sounds like when you open a snapple bottle (similar sound) coming from under the rear seat when ever the tank is full. If i seat someone in the back the noise stops. Has anyone had this problem or what do you think it might be? I already checked the spare and the jack and everything is tight so i know it's not that making noise. What do you think I should do. Is this norm......??????? Thanks |
Well the tank is under rear seat and gas hoses also go there so that sound and full tank may have a connection. Maybe you sould show your car to your dealer.

Uhh, no, something is definately wrong. Even if the tank is full, you should not hear that type of sound. I know i don't and i always squeeze every drop to the max. New cars definately should not sound like that. Take it to the dealer bro.
In my Civic i never had that sound. In my Acura EL never had that sound. In my previous 2 generation Buicks i never had that sound. And never heard of anyone getting it with a full tank. A gas tank is supposed to be FILLED up. |
make sure its not your lug wrench loose back there.....lift up your rear seat cushions too....see if there is something loose under there.

I WENT AHEAD AND REMOVED THE SPAIR THE JACK AND THE TIRE IRON AND IT WASN'T THAT. YESTERDAY WHEN I GOT HOME I LIFTED UP THE REAR SEAT AND JUST MOVED THE CAR BACK AND FORTH WHILE IN PARK CAUSEING THAT LIL LEWAY IT HAS TO GO. YOU COULD ACTUALLY SEE THE METAL UNDERNEATH THE SEAT BOWING UP AND DOWN LIKE A SNAPPLE CAP MAKING THAT DAM SOUND. I WENT AHEAD AND MADE AN APPT WITH THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO.

good let them make you happy, also caps are on :)

It's really interesting that you can SEE the metal popping up and down - sounds like a bad stamping of the steel at the factory or something - very odd.
Truth is, I can't imagine what the dealer will try to do about it. But if they give you a crazy runaround, it's probably not worth arguing. It's not a major defect (although I know you think it is - I would, too) and it's not like they can give you a new car or something. Maybe there is a body bolt loose underneath or something. If they can't find what's wrong, try looking for yourself. If all else fails, a little Dynamat kit or even a few generous layers of duct tape oughtta stop it from popping. I know - duct tape on a brand new car?!?!?! Blasphemy!!! But - it's a possible solution - and one that you will never see. I'd think the just smallest amount of weight on the metal will probably prevent the up/down popping motion, and solve your problem. Keep us updated - I'm especially interested to hear what the dealer has to say about THIS one! ~HH |
Got Back from the dealer
Get this they said they never say something like this before, the guy some me that beat on the steel with a rubber malot and got it to stop. So it's not doing it, but its wierd.
