whistling noise at speed??

Usually when I hit around 80ish or less if there is wind, I get a whistling noise. Not exactly sure where it is coming from, but I think it might be the fresh air duct below the windshield. Anyone else have/had this problem and know what it is? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks much,
Sam

I get a whistling noice when the window's down, but at speeds that high I'm assuming your windows are up.

this is a pretty common problem. Your windshield needs to be resealed. take it back to mazda and you should be able to get it fixed for free.

Really? Is there a TSB on this that I can reference to?

i had that exact problem, 80ish, and I found that when I pressed on the interior trim, just above and to the left of the rear-view mirror, the sound would stop. So, I figured it was a windshield seal problem. A few people I talked to said it was not the windshield, including the windshield repair guy that replaced my windshield (insurance paid for as an impact mark was right in my straight-line vision). However, now that he replaced it, which was yesterday, the sound is no more!! Sweet! :D

i wonder if that's the sound i've been hearing once in a while. it's not all the time, and it's only at or above 80mph, but it's some kind of whistling-like noise. hmm.

mine is (was!) almost always right at 80, unless there is a headwind or tailwind, then it is less, or more than 80, respectively. It wasn't always there, either, and not sure when it started.

make sure it's not your roof rack, I took mine off and the wind noise was quite a bit better, don't know if this woudl cause a whistling noise though.

it happens whether or not you have a roof rack. After my windshield got replaced (stupid mac truck) the guy at the repair shop told me there was a 2 inch area dead center on top and bottom of the windshield where the sealant was missing. After he put the new one in the sound is gone!

Anyhow even though this is (mostly) a known issue i don't think you will find an official report from mazda.
