Whining bi---

I have a stock air box, and I'm figuring that's why the engine whine's on the way to red. Am I right? And would a cold air system fix this, or would I have to get the heads ported?Anybody that can help-Thanx!!

CAI makes more noise, not less.

The whining noise is I think the result of the variable length runners in the intake manifold. Once past a specific rpm, I think its between 4000 to 5000rpm a cover opens to let air to come in through the shorter length and wider tubing in addition with the long and narrow tubing in order to help breathing and boost top end power.

An CAI or short ram intake will not alleviate this sound. The cause is from the intake manifold, not the intake itself. It however will make this sound unnoticable due to the "intake roar" you get from an aftermarket intake.

I missed this sweet whining sound, and that's why I'm back to my stock intake now.
