What is wrong with me?

After following NSX Files (www.nsxfiles.com) and watching F1, playing GPL, GT3 etc, I think I now have the disorder.

I'm 16 and my dad ( I won't lie ) got me a 99 protege es but it is auto :-( I didn't think this would be a big deal but it is turning out to be.

Event 2 hours from where I live... for 425$$ I am 16 btw and have like 1750$.

I also saw this...

and would need to drop 300-400 on a helmet, man I am sick.

What do you guys think? Has anyone taken an auto to the track ? Would it hold up? What should I do?

Thanks for any advice :-\

run what you brung!!!!

that's an opportunity you can't miss, to be able to drive on a world class track like Mid-Ohio. Go ahead and take your 99 ES AUTOMATIC onto the track, the tranny will handle the extra stress fine. I took my 00 ES AUTOMATIC onto Summit Point raceway in West Virginia and had a blast.

You really learn the TRUE limits of your car (acceleration, handling, and braking) on a racetrack, plus with the instructions you'll be receiving at the 2-day course, you'll be much more in tune with your car and be a safer driver in it on the road. Yes you'll miss a big chunk of the learning on shifting, but hey, like the title says, YOU RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG. Go out there and have fun, and keep that $400 for the RX-7 for a bit longer. If after the 2-day course you feel like you REALLY want to go further, then consider the RX-7 again.

good luck and have fun! :D

also that RX7 looks beat to hell and most likey wasn't correctly maintained, so expect to put a new engine in.

correct me if i am wrong, but that is not an 86' rx7 in the picture. Isn't that a 2nd gen rx7?, and I thought the second gens start at 87'????? Prob wrong but I dunno. and for that price its prob going to need a lot of work.
