I tend to shift at 2500 when I am chilling and profiling , or cruising , then I have my times when I shift at 3,000 , then I have the merge on the highway wich is about 3500 to 6000 ,,, if for fun , I can go to 6200 , but I never touch the limiter , cause that only slows me down and i don't want that

haha i've got a little 1.6.. so

around town i shift at 2500-3000rpm if just cruising (otherwise the car will fall flat on its face in the next gear and be undrivably slow)..

if showing off the intake's sound or racing much more powerful vehicles, i'll shift at around 5000-5500

if going up steep hills with a car behind me hehe, I'll almost stop at the bottom of the hill, go in first gear and redline each gear otherwise there's no hope.. AT ALL.. my elantra is a hell of alot faster..

these are all guestimates btw, no tach in my DX but I know my engine after all this mileage :p

You cannot understand high rpms. My '83 Rabbit GTI had the close-ratio 5-speed in it. At 60 in 5th it was 3600 and 75 it was 4200...but what a fun car it was.

I always rev it up a little more in first so when I shift into the damn long second gear, it's at a reasonable RPM.
