Water leaking after touchfree carwash?
 

Hi,

I bought a P5 only 2 months, I went to touchless car wash this weekend, I ended up with few water drops with my back seat side window.

Does anyone experience this before?

I wouldn't worry about it to much. Those car washers run at such a high pressure that it probably just 'broke' the seal around the window. Same thing happened to mine, I just switched to a different type of washer and of course a different location. Thankfully now I can wash it be hand...

How bad was it? Did it go through the rear doors or the hatch?

If it's just a tiny sprinkle then I don't think that you can get the dealership to fix it. If it's a little more than that, you can go and complain to the dealership that your new car is not waterproof and that you're afraid of soaking the back seat driving in a rainstorm.

The only "leak" that I get in my sedan is a small sprinkle thru the closed moonroof (nothing gets in the interior if I close the moonroof "ceiling door"). I get zero leaks thru the front and the rear doors (or anywhere else for that matter), and I regularly use a touchfree car wash.

Kind of off topic, but how good are these touchless car washes? Do they clean pretty well?

The other thing I worry is that although there's no rag strips spinning over the car, the high water pressure may cause some paint damage (knowing how weak the paint is on the Protege).

nnn... i would complain to the dealer anyway....but what they'll
probably end up doing is to get a garden hose and spray it on
your car and say... hey, no leak.

those touchless washes are good if your car is 'relatively' clean,
not filthy dirty. its safer than the soft cloths as the soft
cloths tend to contain the pepples and gunk from washing
the car infront of you.

I will show them the watermark in the car and see what they say about it.

If those high pressure washer get a good angle on any of those seals, it'll break through, it doesn't matter what kind of car you have.
For the best wash, I usually do a hand wash place, usually cheaper, and I'm in control of anything that's goign to go wrong. Usually these are the best for water conservation and for getting your car clean.

You might wish to read your owners manual on which kind of car washes are recommended. THe paint takes about 6 months to harden
