Vibration on take off
Sometimes if I slip my clutch ALOT but slowly, say at 2000-2500 rpm's from take off, the car violently shakes. Feels like a very strong pre-stall symtop. Except its at 2000-2500. Could it be clutch slipping?
No idea what's causing this? Anyone notice this? |
It's a common documented problem caused by a bad clutch and flywheel. Mazda has issued a TSB about it. Do a search for "clutch chatter."

If your car is new, then cash that cow. Its a good idea to specify the year and make of your car in the bottom of your posts or just add to your signature. :)

It's a 2002 P5. Just hit the 1 year anniversary. So probably december 2001.

Hey Guys.....I've modded my Protege 01' with an aftermarket exhaust and a short ram intake. Do you think the dealership will bitch at all when I attempt to get that clutch slippage fixed? I've asked other people about it, but I wanted the opinions from actual Mazda owners. Could these aftermarket parts compromise the warranty at all? From what.. I know is that, if these parts weren't the cause of the damage done to the car.. Mazda should have no problem with me keeping my warranty..or repairing the damage needed, right? :dunno:
(If Need be..I've still got the OEM parts. I could just throw em back on.) Hopefully it shouldn't come to that. Suggestions? Opinions needed.. |

Depends what dealership you're at. Really, they can get you on anything. Check the fine print on that. But I'm sure there's a clause saying ANY changes can void your warrantee.
I'm planning on changing the intake and all when I have money. However, I've heard people saying that Mazda won't help out even if you have an aftermarket intake. Maybe call ahead of time? If they say yes, swap back to OEM. Save yourself the trouble. Be anonymous on the phone if need be. |
appreciated
Thanks for your post.
