Undercoating, Scotchguard, Touch Up Paint?
 

My attack plan is set for 12 / 10 / 01

I know they will ask me if I want Undercoating, scotchguard, touch up paint, etc.?

Do I need any of this stuff? What difference does it make? If it does make a difference, what can I do to do it myself? Do they actually use specially made undercoating for Mazda cars?

i don't know where you are located but I think you can find a better place than the dealer for the undercoating and what not. they charge a rediculous price and in general send it out to be done. Just find out where they send it and go there to save yourself some cash. It's not really nesessary for the first few years, I don't think. Unless you get the whole new car treatment.

You want touch-up paint. It's only a couple bucks, and it is
inevitable that you'll get nicks and scratches if you plan to
drive your car at all.

I couldn't find Scotch Guard at any local retail stores. I found
something similar, but someone told me they stopped selling
Scotch Guard (at least to consumers). I don't know why. I
treated the carpets and upholstery myself with this non-Scotch
Guard product. I'm not sure if it's doing any good or not. But
it was cheap.

Modern cars rust a lot less than they did 20 years ago. I
personally don't think undercoating is necessary.

I did get suckered into buying the paint protectant application.
(US$200) They said I wouldn't have to wax my car for five
whole years, and it would be protected from chemical abuse
(bird droppings, pollution, etc). I don't know if it was worth
it or not.

Things I find absolutely out the door when cutting a car deal. They are; rust proofing (undercoating); scotch guard (fabric spray); paint protectant (wax job). Most of these stuff are already factory done up. When I bought my car, I only added fog lights and tinted windows, I find them presently useful. Enjoy them while you can. "Rust proofing" is not guaranteed 100%, eventually the car will be rusted out. "Scotch guard" will not stop all kinds of juices from staining. "Paint Protectant" does not protect from scatches, so you're back to square one. Anyhow, owning your loving car includes washing, waxing, cleaning, vacuuming, etc.. :)
