10 is about the limit before forging, etc. The easiest way to boost a protege is to find a Mazdaspeed one and swap the parts over. If you can't find an MSP for parts, there are a couple turbo kits out there for a Protege. It's gonna cost you though. Those MP3s are pretty rare. Might be worth selling it and just buying an MSP, which is basically the same car with a turbocharger.

Turbo kit

Hi, would a ebay turbo kit rated up to 25 psi work for my Mazda protege mp3 at around 10 psi?

Is there anything I should know before turbo charging my mp3?

Could someone send a link of a turbo kit for a 2001 Mazda protege mp3?

Your ECU is different from other Proteges. You will need an ECU like a Haltech for starters or at least find the ECU from a protege5 or an ES model. No turbo kits for a Protege use the MP3 ECU because of it's advanced timing.

The 1st thing I would do is get off of eBay. That's all Chinese made junk that will explode and **** your car up. Those kits are cheap for a reason.
Here's a reputable site that wont rip you off:
Protege

Like I kinda mentioned. If you have your heart set on turbocharging, once you're done buying stuff and having it installed, selling the MP3 and finding a clean Mazdaspeed Protege makes way more sense. You're looking at 3 grand or so to boost your car, which is about what you can find an MSP for.

Here's how i arrive at such a high number compared to the ebay turbo kit.

Air, Fuel, Spark is what makes a car run. The turbocharger will take care of the air, but now you'll need fuel and spark to match.
For spark you'll need new plugs, wires and most likely coils.
Fuel will need a new fuel rail, fuel pump, and injectors.

Now you need a way to control all these new parameters that have been introduced by the turbo kit. That's where the Haltech comes in, along with a ton of little things that add up like a boost controller, wideband and intercooler. Also, don't forget what all that new power is gonna do to your clutch. That will be next on the list.

After everything is installed (parts bolted up, coolant lines plumbed, and wiring spliced in), not leaking and the car runs, it's time to take it to a dyno and have it tuned by a professional. The better the tune, the more power you can make and the less likely your car will blow up.

Now you start buying things like a boost and water temp gauge, and a pod to put the gauges in.

It gets expensive fast.
