True or False (on spark/piston firing)

Sounds dumb but I was talking to a Mazda guy at the dealership, I was scratching my head.

but he said if for example that I was driving along and one of the two wiring units fails, that the engine will continue to turn on the two remaining pistons ( with ultra sluggish performance and possible strain) but it will continue to run. By Design. which differs from other imports/wiring design.

Anyone wanna take a stab at that one..

I have heard of it else where but not on a 4 cylinder...

well, if one of the coil packs on the 2.0L motor goes out you're going to lose 2 cylinders. Technically Yes, the car will still run based on the output of the remaining two cylinders. It will be horribly slow but it will get you home. This is pretty much common on ANY engine except for a rotary. It's basically just misfiring.
