Trim removal question

Since this is my first post here I would like to say hello to everybody around and I hope we will have a great time together.

Now to my question. I have been toying with the idea of fixing some very annoying creaks and rattles originating from the plastic trim that surrounds the CD changer (I have the 6 CD changer option). I am talking about the silver trim immediate to the changer and the fake carbon fiber trim. How can I remove these pieces without scratching or breaking anything? I plan on sticking some adhesive felt to them and put everything back together so I can quite down some of the annoying noises coming from that area.

Thanks a bunch,
Florian

hi there, removing that center piece is not too hard, firstthing to do is disconnect the 2 cables that run the vent selection and the temp control, each of which is under the dash, get yourself under there and you'll see a cable on each side connected to a white plastic piece, just pop it off, next, tilt your center vents down, use the edge on the bottom of the opening to hold on and pull it outwards, once the top parts pops out the bottom won't want to move as easilly, that's because those cables you disconected are pretty stiff and bent at weird angles, so it holds the bottom in, what i did is when i got the bottom out maybe 4 or 5 inches i got a small screwdriver and disconnected all the vent controls from the center trim, that way you don't have to pull those cable all the way out, after that your trim piece should be free, it's been a while since i did this so if anything is unclear send me a pm and i will help as much as i can, plus ther are pics somewhere in this site or online as to how to take it out
