Tri-Point CF hoods
Sorry, my computer is giving me problems. It somehow deleted the whole first message I said & messed up on the pics to. Lets try again. Tri-Point sent me some pics for the 2001+ Protege CF Hood. You see the first 2 pics in my first post & the third at the bottom of this one. If you do want to get this hood, please e-mail me with your name & e-mail address & if you are ready to get the hood now or later (like early next year). If we have enough people (10) ready to get it now, Ill start the ball rolling with Tri-Point. I just think I like this one better than MHP and its a little cheaper. The Fiber Images people never got back with me. The price on the Tri-Point will be 455.00USD & shipping. Shipping could be from 80.00 to 150.00 depending on where you live & Im trying to get it shipped freight collect so we dont have to worry about figuring out shipping & you paying me for shipping, the delivery company will just get the shipping payment when they deliver. Makes it easier & quicker for both of us! So, e-mail me if you are still interested. I will try my best to get ones for the 99-2000 Protege but right now, I think I have only 3 people interested & Im going to need to show them there is more interest so they will be willing to get the mold & make them.

Hey give me a date and count me in...just keep in touch.
I will bulk order it with some GC Coilovers from you. Private message me. |
count me in, for early next year. the same with the ground control coils. Oops, no more ground control coils, going with air.
That does look good with a silver car. Now they just need to make one for the '99-'00 Proteges... :crying:
Yeah Eric, I think we need 7 more people to commit to try & get Tri-Point to commit to making one for the 99-2000's. We can do it but it may take time! Go out there & drum up some more customers.
Count me in. But unfortunately not til march or april of 02. It's gonna take a month just to replace the whole front end of my car  . The other person is paying for the damage as it wasn't my fault. But I'm still without my car for a loooong time.
Damn ... this hood looks good ... too bad they dont make anything like that here in Estonia... have to look around.
How much is the weight difernece between the original and fiber? |
I think the CF hood is around 8 pounds. The stock hood is much heavier but I havent gotten an exact weight on that. Anyone else?
damn it that hood looks nice with that SILVER car!!! I WANT ONE!!
Ok, everyone pitch in and buy me a new CF hood.. heh |
CF weight savings
Tri-point told me that their cf hood weighed about 17 pounds, and the stock hood weighed about 28 pounds...Something like that...There was about a 10 pound difference.
stock hood must weigh more, at least 40 pounds from what I felt lifting it up....... 28 pounds is nothing....
And if the difference is only 11 pounds, why get it then? It doesn't look that great, and that's a lot of money. Give me 450$ US and I'll run for four hours and lose those 11 pounds, same thing.... |
I'm in a the CF hood for a 1999 Gen3
You guys can count me in on the CF hood for the 99-00 Gen3s.
99-00 CF hoods buyer count
awesome, we got another one! so, here's the list (short). please respond if you want to be added. Keep in mind that this list is for the 99-00 cf hood and NOT the 01-02 hoods
99-00 CF hood buyers: Jeremy T Jeremy D Eric F biknman I beleive tripoint told Jeremy D that he needed to get 5 buyers. So, we only need one more. I hope someone chimes in. Spread the word on Protegetech, etc. There's gotta be at least one more person that wants one! |
Hell yeah, I'm game.. count me in. That CF hood will look great on my emerald green ES!
hells ya thatll work for me just give me a heads up on how everything is going, so i can make sure to get in on this
are they relocating the windshield wipper squirters or are they putting them in the stock location.....I think that $550 (with shipping is two rich for my blood anyways, I can get one made for about $350 locally (my friend does custom carbon fiber pieces and said he could do hoods).....Post if anyone wants interior pieces made of carbon fiber...we could get some made up for a good price.
$400 to $550 is the normal price for a carbon fiber hood. But if you can get them for $350, take a pic of it and post it. If it looks as good as the tripoint one, I'm all in. Oh yeah, post pics of any carbon fiber peices you get made, I might buy those too. :bt:
Sorry to get a little off topic here, but what is the point of these hoods? OK, they are lighter... is that it? Why would you want a hood that dosent even match the car? Seems silly to me to spend $550 on something that looks lame and serves a very small purpose IMO.
$550 may be normal for a non-honda or acura car I guess, I will try to borrow a digital camera to take some pics of the pieces and i'll post them.
Yes, Iam interested in the center console trim panels in carbon fiber. I hate that stupid paint that chips if looked wrong. By the way is on a P5.
Regarding why the hood, Just for the looks:bt: Its like the Injen and your hyper whites, they really dont do anything. OK maybe 2 hp and 1 candle light more. :dunno: for $$$. Dont get me wrong I also got the Injen but will go for the real HID! |
Are you talking to me? :D
Alright, getting the buy on the CF hoods back together. Most of you said you would be ready to order in January. So e-mail your name & address & that you are interested in the hood.
