tokico hp blues

do these things squeak?
I was reading on another forum that a guy has 'em and they're squeakin'!

Da P-Funk! June-30th-2005 06:49 AM

Nope. Properly installed* - they are silent and competent. Much Sweetness.

*I didn't completely torque down the nut and it banged and rattled until i did. Then.... nothing. real quiet.

cool
What's your take on these struts with the tien s tech springs?
I noticed that you have eibach.

Da P-Funk! July-1st-2005 06:55 AM

They are both 'progressive rate springs' and drop the car a similar amount. They are both steel. Just about same in every respect (AFAIK). So, your experience should be just as enjoyable (you will have the biggest GRIN when installed and you 'get on it' - the grin doesn't go away! :D )

Cool, but between the eibach and the tien, which is more expensive, or are they about the same price?

hughes412 July-1st-2005 08:00 AM

The Eiback will run you about 200-220 shipped, the Teins will be about 120-140 shiped. But the teins are weeker, and will drop the car more then listed. Ive got the eibach 1.8 drop and it is right at 2 in total, Brian has the Teins and it droped almost 2.25 in. Some like that but when we go cruzin he has alot more body roll then I do.

amrit July-1st-2005 08:13 AM

So what would you say is better? The eibach for 220 or the cheaper, weaker teins for 140?

hughes412 July-1st-2005 09:04 AM

It will (should) depend on how you drive. I'm an agressive driver when there is no traffic and I like to hit the turns hard. Thats why I went with the eibach. But if your not that big in to autocrossing and you want a a little more handling and a good drop go for the teins. I am very happy with mine, with the factory 15s I didn't feel hardly any change in the ride. But when I went to 17s you can tell. But it not that bad. My dad says it's like driving in a rail car, very sticky and sure footed. So its up to you and what you want. I don't think you can go wrong with either of the two really. But with the tokio blues and the eibacch with the R/B swaybars man what a ride!

chiefmg July-28th-2005 02:47 PM

I got a Tokico Blue kit (complete w/springs) and I love them. The drop is about half of the Eibachs (say 1"). I installed Mazdaspeed front/rear sway bars at the same time, and the difference in handling is amazing. I still have stock 16" tires (which need replacing), and the thing handles flat. I took a 180 degree off ramp on the edge of traction, and handling was neutral with a slight tendency to oversteer. I have never before experienced that in a front drive car. Like hughes412 says, what a ride! Upgrading your suspension is relatively inexpensive and if you like corners, you will love how your car handles.

I really like the teins but somehow I think I may wanna switch to the eibachs.
I'm so undecided!
I love to corner hard and boy with my 4wd, it's really a kick!

Jumping in here late, but what would the difference be between the racing beat springs on the MSP and the Tein S techs. I want to drop a little lower, but still have the handling that the MSP already possess

Hey guys, what about sway bars? I don't know what I should get. I have been hearing about sway bars and all I know is springs and shocks (and I still don't know much about this). So what sway bars should I get if I'm gettin the Tein S-Tech Springs and the Tokico HP Struts?

Velocifero December-19th-2005 02:45 PM

try to get some AWR swaybars, if not then look into GT Spec or even try to get the bars from a MSP or MP3

RACING BEAT....

amrit December-19th-2005 07:18 PM

I doubt I'll be able to get any off an msp or mp3 unless I order it from one of you guys.
What about the AWR swaybars or the racing beat? Is there a specific one for our cars? And what price am I lookin' at here?

The springs and shocks should cost me around $4000, that's roughly $635US.
