Teflon coat, is it worth it?
 

I didn't feel like caving in to all the additions they try to sell you after you've negotiated the price of the car -- So I declined the teflon coat option. I've been thinking it over, and think I might have it done.

Does anybody have an opinion about it? Is it worth it, or is it a waste of money? Do you really not have to wax the car for the first five years if you get the teflon coat?

Teflon, or PTFE, must be bonded to it's surface at a really high temperature.

What they are spraying on your car is a wax coat. It will not last years. Are you really not gonna clean up bird crap if it lands on your car? I'm guessing you would...and so are they.

Anyway, my (STRONG) opinion is to not get this. If they are offering this, I'd laugh at them...probably laugh my way out of his office!!

BTW, don't put PTFE in your engine either. :D

Eagle One Wet has Teflon in it. I bet that's what they're selling you.

is Eagle One Wet one of those 'spray-on' wax that requires no buffing?

that OPTION is total BS and a waste of your money.

No, it's a paste polish. Slick stuff.

I believe you are referring to is called "Touch of Class".

Touch of Class Paint and Fabric Protection.
Protects exterior painted and interior cloth or leather surfaces from weather induced cracking or peeling, oxidation or loss of gloss. Fabric surfaces will be protected against any normal soiling and spills of dirt, water, coffee, non-fruit-flavored sodas plus more. Leather or vinyl interior surfaces will not be damaged as a result of cracking, fading, or discoloration.

One thing to remember is that the extended warranties and the "Touch of Class" package
can, and should be negotiated (do not pay full price).

I also feel that the warranty offered by this protection package should not be ignored (I believe it is 5yrs).

I am not recommending the product, I am only providing additional information which could help in making a decision.
