sunroof noise without visor (long)

I just got my Midnight Blue P5 3 days ago and finally had a dry warm day to try out the sunroof. I didn't get the visor because my old car had a sunroof and no visor and just made a soft air rumble at highway speed. The P5 with the roof open makes this high pitched air rush noise. Noise is not from the roof rack. My rack is sitting next to my couch still in the box :p . I looked up and noticed a mini visor had popped up and I pushed it down and the noise went to a nice soft rumble I was used to. When I look at the mini visor I noticed that there were big gaps cut into the rubber squeegee looking blade attached to the visor. I was wondering is there a way I could keep the mini visor down so it doesn't wistle? or fill in the gaps an hope that stops the noise?

It seems it like a conspiracy to have it make a ton of noise when its suppose to stop it. The dealer seemed a little too eager to sell me the visor.

First off, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

The whole wind noise with my windows/moonroof open thing bothers me.....I just can't imagine having a window on a car open at highway speeds and there NOT being wind noise.....I have MANY times posted my cure for this thought....and it requires no cutting....no removal.....no modification of any part.....

JUST CRANK UP THE VOLUME!!! :{D

there's a gotcha if you do that... while it seems OK at highway speeds, there will be a speed (depends on if your car windows are open, how far open, etc) at some point when it basically sets up a standing air pressure wave in your car. When it happens you'll know it, you get a real funky sound.

When I was playing with the little deflector when I first got my car it was at about 30MPH with all the other windows up. It even made the head liner shake violently... I then decided that I liked it attached to the roofline and stopped doing it.

Sir Nuke, It worked!
I burned a new cd and cracked the player as high as it would go and still sound decent. No problem with sunroof noise then.

Although the guys at work looked at me funny when I rolled up thumpin Rob Zombie:p

clifracr, i have noticed this too and it bothers me. i will eventually get the deflecter, but for now all i do is crack the sunroof so that the little visor does not pop up. it works, but you don't get the whole roof open feel?? that's what i think, but what do i know

I have the 02 ES sedan. It has the same noise with the moonroof open. I also have a Honda Accord with a moonroof and the sound is about the same.

I thought this was just the down side of having a moonroof.

Fortunately, I had gotten a moon roof deflector included in the deal for my car. The dealer had to order it , so I drove around without the deflector for a week.

The deflector makes a tremendous difference in the noise level. It also cuts down on the amount of wind entering the passenger compartment - which you may or may not like.

Once my wife drove with me with the deflector added, I had to order one for her Honda.

If the noise bugs you, the deflector will fix that. The cost is reasonable - just don't let the dealer charge you anything for installation!! It takes less than 5 minutes, requires no modification to the vehicle, and just a screw driver for tools.
