stock CD player in 2001 ES

hello all,

I just purchased a 2001 ES about a month ago. Just yesterday, I was changing CDs while driving and the CD came out, then I put in another CD and it would not read the CD. Then I tried to eject the CD and it would not eject the CD. Still has yet to eject the CD.

Is there a simple way to remove this CD? The car is still under warranty, so I will take it in to get the CD player fixed this weekend, but was wondering if it would be possible to get my CD now...

All help is appreciated, thanks!

Eric.

adding on to my message...

are there any CD players that could be put in the 2001 ES without making it look like a big hole on my dashboard?

any CD players that could fit that thing well? maybe with a tape player attached or something... i don't know...

There was some talk of this in the MP5online forum on yahoo. The fix, I beleive was to unhook the battery for a few minutes to let the player reset. You could probably just pull the fuse to do the same thing. It's never happened to me but I think it worked for this other guy. Good luck. Have yet to see pics of an aftermarket head unit install that really wow'd me. It's a big hole to fill. Even with a double din unit it seems like there are gaps all around.

Do a search for them and try to figure out what is wrong yourself. :bt:
Perhaps I am misinterpreting things here but more often than not when a moderator comes on board the wording of their commentary seems to have a condescending tone. I thought the idea behind forums like these were to help one another, not to just be a localised search engine where you "figure it out yourself". If that were true there should only about ten posts that come back to life every once in a while and end up being umpteen messages long. Some times it's hard to find a key word that directs you exactly where you want to be. Perhaps you could offer links to the previous discussions?

If you're like me and you're on a dial up it's very time consuming to sift through page after page of info that may not pertain to exactly what you're looking for. Sometimes a new thread is a good thing? I'm glad to have found this board and have gotten a lot of great info from it. It's often times like family, sometimes it's like a very disfunctional family. There's a lot of threads where the posters are bad enough. I would hope that the moderators would be a source goodwill rather than just another anonymous not-too-friendly voice.

Just my humble opinion

Being currently on a dailup it took me 4 minutes of searching to find the diagnostic he was reffering to here

Yes you should take it to the dealer too, since it still is under warranty.

But the reason we have the search function here is to eliminate the number of repeat posts. Numerous posts on the same subject effectively slows down the server. So, if you can take the time to do a search before you make a post, it's not hard and helps sometimes. If you can't find the answer to your question, then post. We will understand. "TheMan" was not trying to be mean, but just backing up the rules of the forum.

In case there's still interest in the second portion of the original post, having to do with finding a head unit that "fills" the radio cavity....

I installed a single-DIN Alpine 7998 head unit (the new unit with fantom-face), and installed the Mazda-supplied "pocket" which has the door on it. It is the same pocket used in the MPV, and in the MP3 last year, and in the upcoming Mazdaspeed3. The only thing needed to completely fill the small gap, if it bothers you, is a surround ring which any installer shop has. The finished look is very OEM, but of course, the sound is definitely NOT OEM.
