someone tried to break into my car...

well i was jus at the car wash and while cleaning the car i discovered damage along the bottom side of the passenger window in the weather stripping where it seems like someone tried to break into my car with a coat hanger. Im not sure what day this week it was, i didnt notice it until today, but that really urks me. I guess i should be thankful that my baby held up against the attack an the theif wasnt able to get into the car but now i gotta replace the molding as it has some pretty bad damage. I think now im in the market for a alarm system. anyone know any decent systems for a decent price?? (im lookin in maybe a range of 300-400 dollars CDN **on a budget**)

I purchased a half decent Alpine SEC-100s for 99$ (installed it myself). I believe you can add paging to that as well, but from the prices I saw it was a pretty expensive add on. If you want paging then it would make more sense to get one of those other high end alarms that already come with it, like a compustar.

Glad your car managed to outsmart the thief. Mine wasn't quite so lucky. He/she/it reamed a screwdriver into the passenger door lock. When all was said and done ICBC says $1000. Stupid thief!

Yeah, I have one of the paging alarms in my car, and I spent a little more than what you are looking to spend. I bought the Clifford myself, which is owned by DEI, who has bought several alarm companies including Viper. It works great, and it came with remote start too, so I can start it when the weather is really cold from the comfort of my living room. :D

I'm a cheater, what can I say.

I have a Viper alarm with the pager system. It cost about 500.00 to have in installed and all. It works great and I believe is was well worth the money.

if you get an alarm get a 2 way paging one...that way if somebody breaks into your car it the car will page the remote

i got the compustar one, its a remote starter so it was $800 including tax and install

I just got a Compustar 2wfm (w/ remote start) installed for $687 CDN including tax and install.

Its such a fun toy... seriously... I'm a lazy sob with the remote start....

I feel your pain. my car was broken into in my driveway about 2 months ago. from what the cops told me, they hit 12 cars in my neighborhood that night. stupid kids ended up doing $1,800 in damage and theft to my protege. i had better not find out who it is.... anyway, my friends at circuit city are trying to talk me into getting a code alarm. they say it's pretty nice. we'll see when i get some cash.

I installed the Autopage 750LCD on my 02 ES about a month ago..... Cost me $350 for the alarm, installed it myself (4 hours, 6 pack of Rolling Rock), and has remote start, and 2 way paging. I like it, and would suggest it to anyone in the market.

The idea is good, but what happens when you get there. He pulls a gun on you what do you do now. Because now he jsut might rob and shoot you. I know a guy that had one and when his pager went off, he ran out to his car. When he approached the guy he pulled a knife on him. So he just told the guy to keep it neat. Unless you got balls of steel the only thing it does is lets you know what's going on. And by the time the cops get there the theif has probably already got what he wanted. I'm not trying to dissuade you but it's just something to think about before you spend your money.

My civic has been broken into three times and stolen and recovered once. Everytime I had an alarm. I first two times I had the top of the line Alpine and the third time when they actually stole it I had the clifford. If they want it, they will take it. The last time (keep in mind I have had this car 11 years) which was last june they got the column apart but somthing must of spooked them because they just took the deck, JL's,Amp, and Apexi-SAFC and bolted. Funny thing is that I live about 40 miles from San Antonio and never drive my civic daily but it just so happened the Maxima was in the shop so I drove the civic to my bosses to borrow a company owned van and the car was broken into during the day in the middle of the street while my car was just sitting there all alone. Wanna hear the kicker? Well, my boss is a doctor who lives in a neighborhood where the houses average 1 mil or more and as my car was being broken into his 2003 S55 (which he rarely drives) and H2 were just sitting there untouched. The cop said they rarely have break-ins there but when they do it's usually the more commonly found cars. needless to say my alarms worked none of the times. The first three times my car was violated was while I was in the Navy and my car ws sitting in the parking lot from hell.

I can't believe they did'nt take a chance at the S55. I'm also pretty sure it was some poor little rich kids that live accross the street because I saw a kid leaving some time ago driving a blown Integra. you think he could have use dteh Apexi. But hey, that's what Insurance is for so I'm not going to go jack some kid up and get arrested over it.
