It smells like burning.
The last couple of mornings while running the heat, I've noticed a burning smell. It actually smells like burnt toast. You can't really smell it while the car is in motion, but when I stop it is really strong. I checked under the hood, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. The smell is also noticeable outside the car as well.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or might no what the problem might be. Or what might smell like toast when burned. Thanks in advance for any information. |
probably just dust on the coils

Usually when you haven't used the heat for a while it will smell when you turn it on. At least that is what mine have done in the past. However, if it continues to smell, or smells all the time when running the heater then I'd have it looked at.

I have noticed a burnt chemical smell only when I put it in park, say to get the mail or whatever. Not when it is in drive and stopped, just in park. Never had that happen before until this winter...at least you get toast ;)
Seriously, the only wierd thing that happened was a mechanic jammed my emergency parking brake so hard I couldnt release it (they were able to), and ever since then I've noticed that smell when its in park. cause and effect ? who knows... |
Lol,paula, did you drive with the ebrake like that at all ??? Otherwise the two instances are non related
|
:) nope I didnt drive with it like that so there goes my cause and effect theory.
