secrect to removing front sway bar

I am in the process of taing this thing apart and I cannot figure out how to remove the front sway bar. The two bolts that tie it to the chasis are a pai toget to. How do you guys do it?

FUN STUFF !! AND YOU HAVE TO DO IT 2X !! :bt:

it's a 2 man job

you will need to jack the car up, put it on jackstands, but you need to find a place to place the jackstands that doesnt touch or interfere with the entire front suspension

then take the wheels off and disconnect the strut tower from the steering knuckle

then you will need to disconnect the endlinks from the swaybar(this is a bitch, plan on buying new endlinks)

then drop the crossmember bolts....from what i remember the subframe will still be attached to the A-arms......drop the rear of the subframe down..next get a buddy to manhandle the subframe down far enough to get a wrench in to the brackets that hold the swaybar to the crossmember on each side....then you will slide the cross member out sideways, it will require twisting it as you pull it out

you will need the new bushings too, as the ones on the p5 will be too small for the new bar

reassemble in reverse order

if i missed anything guys feel free to add

When I installed mine I just took the whole front subframe off. Only thing macdaddyslomo didn't specifically mention is that you WILL need air tools (impact wrench mainly) to get those suspension bolts out. If you decide it's too much hassle but later on want the sway bars, Mazdastuff.com has the front/rear set for around $400 IIRC. Then you only have to do it once!
