Sales stats
First of all I'm a proud new owner of a red 02 Protege LX (2.0) and really enjoying it so far!
I'm from Quebec and was really surprise to find out that the Protege-P5, based on official sales releases, was #1 on the list for sold cars in 2001 for the province. It outsold any cars, suvs or pick up trucks on the market. I'm just curious to see how the Protege is doing your respective state or province. Do you see a lot on the roads? Which car is #1 in your market place? Thx for the info. |
i could stand at any intersection here with a nerf football. spin around three times with my eyes closed and throw the nerf in a random direction........
and i'd hit like 4 P5s i'm sure. and they'd all be silver or yellow. |
Yep, same thing in Ontario...started out slow, but now they are everywhere.
|
Ditto for Winnipeg... and they're also all silver or yellow... glad I own a Blue one!!! When I was in buying mine, the salesman told me that their dealership alone had been averaging 30 P5 sales a month during this summer!! That's crazy!!
|
A while back (like the beginning of the summer), I heard the Protege had become the 3rd best selling car (in it's class) in Canada. Behind Civic and ... something else...
|
That is just bizare...they are still fairly rare around here. I've had my car about 2 months now and only seen about 6 or 7. I actually kinda like them being more sparse...
|
I see a fair number Protege sedans around here. P5's are few and far between in this area, although I've seen a few more than normal lately, still not many though. I live in Detroit area though, so cars from the big 3 account for 90% of the vehicles on the road in this area, since everyone and thier cat gets a discount around here.

here where I live (a town of 20,000) and there are only 6 P-5's and very few other Pros.....and I own two of the 6 P-5's!!
this summer when we went on vacation, we drove from Texas to upstate New York, over th New Hampshire and then back to Texas, and we counted a TOTAL of 11 P-5's!!! geeeez and the one time that we actually passed by one on our side of the road, we were just about to get back on the highway after filling up with gas, we came up behind another P-5 and all four kids inside were lookin out the windows like they were seeing something from outerspace..lol as in they had never seen another p-5 before.... HOWEVER....we would have needed a calculator to keep count of all the civics we saw. |

Originally posted by noodles and if you hit my P5 i'd kill you. :D if i was counting cavaliers and sunfires, i'd use rocks. |
Originally posted by alcoholiday that's why i used a nerf!!! :) if i was counting cavaliers and sunfires, i'd use rocks. when i first got my P5 in ottawa Last november there where hardly any P5's around...now i see almost as many P5's as i do Civics |
My wife bought a new Millenia on Monday. CHEAP!!! We made a deal on price and THEN he deducted the $5,000 off from Mazda. I feel like we got the deal of the century on this car.
But back to the point...while we were in the dealer on two occassions we saw four people driving off in New P5's. Nuke you gotta move in closer to town buddy. P5's are becoming pretty common. |
I live in southern California and I've only seen 2 P5s on the road (a silver and a blue).

On our road trip through the western states last month (4 weeks, 8000 km), we saw fewer P5s on the entire trip in the US than what we saw either in Vancouver or Calgary. I had more than one parking valet tell me they had never been in one before (and that they liked it a lot). They seem to be way more popular up here (maybe it's because we get ours with no roof rack...) Dale. |
