rust

I have a 2002 protege 5. I just noticed alot of rust bubbling up on the rear passenger doors window frame seperating the square window and the triangular window (is that clear as mud?). Anyhow, I am upset as the car is only 7 months old. Is this a problem with the P5? has anyone else experienced this?

Rust

I had rust that appeared in the exact same location as you discribe. The funny thing is that I had the exact same piece replace earlier last year when some some scraped it while breaking in to my car. After a couple of weeks the scratch mark started to show signs of rust. I manage to get the piece replace under warrenty, but the samething is happening on the exact same piece except for the scratch. I spoke to my uncle who is car paint specailist and told me its because Mazda is'nt using a primer under the black paint. How check can Mazda get. I hoping that my dealership won't give me hassle to get the piece replaced.

You mean on the window trim around the top of the doors? Yeah, my old Escort started doing that, too, but it was 8 years old before it showed up...Make 'em fix it.

Why is it rusting? All Proteges are galvanized before they're painted.

Rust

You got me, this is the second time its happening. I am afraid to think what going to happen to the rest of the black in a couple of years. All I know is that they are going to have to replace the entire metal piece again.
