roof rack load?

Has anyone ever bent their roof rack? Last night I loaded 110 pounds of lumber and wondered what happens when the load limit is exceeded. I figured I had about 50 Kgs, so I was still under the posted limit. I also had 6- 2x6x6ft inside. I wish the front seat would fold flat, then I could carry 8 footers. Has anyone evered carried objects that shouldn't have been on or in a compact car?

I carried a twin sized bed inside once. I was actually impressed that it mostly fit inside, (I had to tie down the hatch as it hung out about a foot or so. One thing I've found out is that you can take the seat bottoms completely out and make the seats lie flat. This seems to work pretty well, just be careful about putting them back, one of the bushings cracked after about the third time I put the seat back in. Also make sure that you cover your armrest when hauling boards. I've scratched mine up something fierce hauling 8 ft long 2x4s!
