Reverse Glow Gauges

Well I couldn't really find an "intro yourself" forum so I guess I'll make my first post here.

I'm getting ready to buy my first new car and I've almost exclusivly narrowed it down to a 02 Protege in my area. My question is I've got a couple quick mods planned, and I wanted to get some opinions of those that might have done them.

First is the gauges, I want to do a reverse gauge but the only face I can find is labeled for a 00+ Pro5, will that work in the 02 pro? I've looked at ones for the pro and the ones listed for the pro 5 and they look exactly the same, atleast I couldn't see any differences.

And along the same note as above, I've been oding alot of reading and I've read in more than one place (hehe might as well say more than 10 places :P) that doing the faces you either WILL break your gas/temp gauge or you have to be EXTREMELY careful with it. Has anyone successfully installed this? I was thinking about hitting up junkyards that are owned by some of my dads friends to find units to use for practice/backup replacements.

Ok so I only had one question :)

yeah the ones for the p5 fit you just have to flip the gas/temp gauge and the tach. Everyone here says take the faces to a professional cause you will break the needles and have to buy a $300 cluster replacement. Welcome to the forum and nice choice with the '02 protege, I have an '02 LX sedan myself.

Yea a local dealer has the 02 ES with about 40miles on it under 9 or so how's that for the price of the car? Alot of em I've seen them go pretty cheap. Sorry I just replied in here, didn't want to start another "hey hold my hand" type post ;)

I got mine with 40,000 miles for $11,000 and mines the luxury edition i guess thats what LX means, but yeah go for it just make sure it has the 2.0 liter engine they get the most parts and they haul (personal experience).
