upper strut bar

A strut bar is just that - a bar that connects the top or bottom of the struts/shocks.

If I am wrong on this, someone feel free to correct me. Strut bars are designed reduce body flex, therefore making the car more rigid and handle better. Tighter steering is often present, also.

If your car didn't come with one and you're looking to get one, then all in all they are definitely worth the money. Just go onto eBay and search for Protege strut bar. You could buy one from a name-brand company (like Cusco or whatever), but $100 - $200 is way too much for a strut bar if you're on a budget. They all work pretty much the same, and a $20 eBay cheapie will do just fine.

Hope I could help!

99 protege es May-8th-2003 05:56 PM

i got the mp3 strut bar for my 99 es and can tell a lot of difference in the handeling and cornering its about 100.00 bucks from mazdaformance and if you are going to get a strut bar that is what i would go with because it is the only one made for these carsthat dont require triming or cutting the car up to make it fit, these all come with the brackets to reposition the cruise control module and are made to direct bolt.i bought a ractive and had to send it back because i didnt want to cut it up to make it work. if your gonna get 1 worth getting get the mp3.

You should sell those T-shirts as a group buy! :D

That T-shirt says it all. Where did you get it?

The Surgeon General never said anything about smoking Hondas.

PS: I'm considering the MP3 sway bars for my MP5.

*ahem*

My previous car, a '98 Honda Prelude SH, twisted out 157 lb-ft of torque (and did all the smoking, beeyatch)... so that shirt must be for the Civic and Accord crowd. :D
