Radio Surround Bezel

Anyone know what that part is actually called? The paint on mine is starting to go to hell and I'm trying to find a replacement one from a junkyard or carpart.com but I can't find it anywhere.

Radio Surround Bezel...yep, that's what I call it too. I have an extra one lying around (replacement for the scratched one that is now painted yellow). You make me an offer I can't refuse and it's yours.

Hmm ... yellow you say huh? Do you happen to have any pictures of it? I think I'd much rather save myself the money needed to order a new one and paint the one I have now, but I dunno if yellow would be overkill. Does anyone have pics of yellow interior?

No. I have the regular one...silver w/fakey carbon fiber sides for sale.

My original one got scratched when the fockers broke into my car and stole everything. I got the replacement one, but ended up just having my scratched one painted yellow and am using that.

But if you want to see what it looks like yellow...I'll add a pic.

That looks pretty sweet actually ... I thought it would be too much. I think I'll end up just doing something like that.

See what happened was that I bought one of those little bottled air freshner thingies that you put on your air vents, and although it did smell really good I noticed it started dripping about 15 minutes later. And it actually ate through the paint so now there's a streak of fake carbon fiber right below the vent and I hate lookin at it.

i carry them new, if interested pm me...

Hey! If i could safely strip the factory silver paint - it is all "carbon fiber" underneath? Same for the door switches? How many el-cheapo air freshners would i need? ;)

Ohboyohboyohboy... free/cheap mod.

KrayzieFox January-27th-2006 08:26 AM

Yep ... it's all cheapo carbon fiber underneath.

Ken@ProtegeGarage January-28th-2006 12:57 PM

the door switch panels are not CF underneath

KrayzieFox January-28th-2006 03:13 PM

Yea .. not the door switch, just the radio surround.

brake fluid makes a mighty effective paint remover. can't guarantee what it will do to the plastic, though...

FWIW, do not use Armor All products to clean/protect the interior of you car. I used the cleaning wipes and protectant wipes on my dash and one of them caused the paint on that bezel to start chipping and flaking.
So, stay away from Armor all.

And what's up with Mazda and paint. Seems like they go kinda skimpy on the layers/amount of paint they use. I even read somewhere that it's a common complaint with Mazda. Any slight stone chip I get seems to go all the way to the metal. One guy I knew rubbed right throught the paint trying to polish out a small scratch on his Miata.

Yea our paintjobs suck ... they're not horrible but definately not the greatest either.
