questions about mods for MY02 MP5

Heya, I'm don't really know a lot about Mazda's, being a Nissan guy myself. However it looks like my gf will be getting an MP5 this coming weekend and we're both interested in finding out what the best mods are for this car.

In an effort not to void the warranty, we'll hold off on doing the suspension yet, but I have some questions about the intakes available. I saw else mention Injen and AEM, and I also saw WeaponR or Ractive or one of those crappy brands. I've got an Injen on my car and it's awesome, so I'd be leaning towards that one, but I know AEM is good stuff too. Anyone notice any differences between the two?

How about exhaust... one thing we want to avoid is that buzzy chainsaw (Honda) exhaust note. We will however want a full catback system, not just a muffler. Anyone have any suggestions here?

Swaybars... I don't even know if the MP5 comes with swaybars. If so, is it worth replacing them? Are the MP3 bars better or should we go with aftermarket bars? (Whiteline? Suspension Techniques? Eibach?)

One more simple question about the car... the bolt pattern is 5x100, right? Anyone know what the offset is? Anyone have any suggestions for rim sizes? It comes with 16's so we'd probably jump to 17's for the summer.

Thanks a bunch...

Mike

you should be able to find answers to all those questions here:

however, since i am not a total ass:

if you haven't bought the car yet, have the dealer put the mp3 springs on it, and you warranty will be fine. (except MAYBE on the shocks)

AEM and Injen provide similar gains, but look different. you will have to be the judge on those.

the pro5 does come with sway bars, and the front is a bitch to replace. only aftermarket ones right now are only for the rear.

if you replace your rims, go with a +48 offset on a 17x7.5

It's funny, I always hated it when people asked stupid questions on other forums I'm on, without atleast looking around first. Guilty as charged. Thanks for the info.

Ya I saw that, thanks.

I gotta say though, everyone seems to be going with the cheap knockoff rims. ADR and Tenzo and Rota Motegi. Doesn't anybody want true JDM-style rims? Some Advan's or Volk's or Work rims? Tirerack isn't the only place to get rims.

Just to name a few decent places for rims.
