putty to fill dents/scratches on front bumper.

Is there any product that might do the job?
I want to be able to paint over the putty. Im not interested in the bumper looking new, just a little better. btw, I'd like to order a replacement for the misisng "grille?" on the R/H side. What part should I look it under at partstrain.com? |
You can probably go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get some plastic mesh to custom fab the grille insert. Otherwise I think you might just have to look for it at a junkyard or something, since I doubt anyplace has an actual part # for it.

your better off getting a new bumper... or a used one in better shape.

if it was just that one in the first picture id say, sure... fix it.
but that one big dent right on a body line. replace it. |
what about our good friend Bondo ??
|
btw did you went offroading on your mazda? :P
|
yeah that dent is huge, it happened while I was not in the car, don't know who or when of how it happened.
The scratches happened about two weeks after I found the dent, on a wet road in an intersection, not my fault either... The bumper is also cracked from a previous accident but those cracks are harder to detect. replacement would be the ideal solution...I know. For replacement, I'd need it painted, is there a way to paint the bumper by myself, or do I have to take it to a shop? |
OR heat with a heat gun (or a hair dryer) and PUSH from the inside out...
Sand the scuffs on the other side and spray paint. (Worked for me! ;)) |
actually your basic plastic sedan bumper can be had on ebay for cheap...like $60
|
that if you don't factor shipping :)
I looked at the dent again and there seems to be a crack right under it. Maybe I can slide something in and just 'pull' it out. What kind of device shoud I use for heating, if I don't have an electric outlet (except for the car's cigarette lighter) handy? Should I run between the house and the car with an iron? ;) |
