Protege5 manual tranny oil change

Hi

I need to change the oil for my manual tranny on my Protege5.
Where is the plug for this underneath and on top? I looked thru the manual and cant find anything.

Many thanks

M.

im not sure where its located, but this might help:
http://protege5.ugly.net/
its PDFs of the protege work manual. im sure you'll find the answer there. section 5 is about the transmission. good luck.

i needed to do this as well.

is there a difference between transmission oil and transmission fluid??

my mechanic told me that mobil1 oil is the best to change out the transmission oil
i'm sure that transmission oil and fluid is different but want to make sure
as for the fluid, what's a good one to use?
if there is a difference

im pretty sure there one in the same because the fluid is a kind of oil.you could use redline or amsoil if you run it hard often but i just had mine done at the dealership to ensure oem quality.besides i dont race mine around, i baby the shit out of it,its a very expensive investment.

Transmission oil aka gear oil. Do a search on the forum for brands / people's experiences

You also have clutch fluid, which is using your brake fluid.

I'd say the most popular choices for tranny fluid are Redline, Amsoil, and Mobil1. I personally use Mobil1 since the other two were a little bit too expensive for me...

Mobil 1 gear oil isn't very good. I won't ever recommend it. Use Amsoil or Redline. You only have to change it out like once every 2-3 years...

Don't forget about NEO. I'm lovin' that stuff in all my cars. :)
