Protege5 Headlights
I've been looking for a set of P5 headlights with wiring harness to replace my sedan ones.
I can't seem to find them anywhere. All I can find are sedan ones, or those black cornered sedan ones. I have a set of black sedan headlights that I'm willing to trade, but could only send them out after I got yours (daily driver, can't have it out of commision). Anyone have some for sale, or at least a link to buy them (with harness)? |
There's no such thing as 'with harness'.. the P5 just has a different harness (not detachable like the tail light harness is). You'll have to cut off your harness and solder on a Protege5 harness.. or you can just use your existing harness, without modification, and just have no high beams at all until you re-wire stuff.

Hmmm, might be easier to find a P5 harness at a junkyard and solder it on. At least that way I'll know it will work properly.

Ditto. lol

definitely. I'm not sure how much of the harness would be needed though.
I know drock_240 (name might not be exactly like that) from imazda.com has a totalled Protege5 in his posession.. I'm not sure what kind of damage was done to it though, but I know people are snagging parts off of it (I think he was planning interior conversion) |

What all do you need? The harness for the low beam is the same but one wire is removed and the high beem harness would need to be added.
I am not sure how you would re-wire it but I have two high beam harnesses and two P5 headlights. Both in great condition minus one clip that broke during removal. I have the MSP headlight conversion rewired to one hi/low bulb. pretty much the opposite of what you are trying to do. Mine is the silver one. |
Have 2003 P5 with 103K miles. Drive with headlights on low beam day & night for safety. Very often (and seems to be getting more frequent - every few months) I have to replace at least 1 low beam headlight. Have replaced at least 1 maybe 8 times. Is there some recall, service posting, or simply a suggestion to what might fix this.
I have had little other problems with car. Thank you |
Welcome to the site!
Actually, there is a recall on 2003 Protege5s for something about automotive lighting. |
How best to find that recall?
Nice site and I appreciate the welcome and tip!! I am new at this; how is best way to get info on that recall; and get it fixed?
I skipped FAQ and hope I didn't miss something obvious.:blue: |
Check www.nhtsa.gov (assuming you're from the states until you say otherwise), it's listed there.

Hey DieHonda, I tryed to PM you a few times, not sure if it's broken with the site's downtime. Figured I'd ask here; I'm ready to send the payment for the lights + harnesses.
Just need to know an amount and paypal addy. My postal code is t8a3z3 if you need it. Thanks man! |
