Protege 2002 towing capacity

Hi All
Does anyone know off hand the towing capacity of the Protege 2002 with the 2.0L engine?

Thanks
Mike

0 lbs...just what you can fit on the inside. I wouldn't try to tow anything with my protege at all.. If you have a U-haul there where you live you can rent one of those for $20USD a day...I'd look into it.

Not even a seadoo or something that size? Now that's disappointing.

my friends towed a small trailer w/ a YSR50

my husband has towed a full size motorcycle and lightweight trailer w/ his miata...so i imagine the P5 would be similar...

prolly around 500lbs....yeah he was over the limit.... :laughing

The owner's manual states that the car isn't intended for towing, but I recall seeing a few hitches that were made for our cars, though I don't remember the rating they put on them.

The reason I said "0lbs." Is because the factory clutch is already very weak. Towing 500lbs isn't a problem because me and 3 friends weigh over that and I drive everyone around all the time. Towing a trailer is not a good idea either due to the increased strain on the braking system. Truth be told, I don't know ANY FWD cars I'd tow with....I know some of the little "cute-utes" do some tow duty, but I bet they don't do it regularly.
