proper tire size
hello
I have a question I own a '00 Mazda Protege with the 15" aluminum rims... I need to replace my tires, but the correct tire size is in question... On the door sticker, it says I should be putting a 195/55-R15 tire on it... I also called the dealer and they said I can go up to a 205/50-R15 if I wanted to. Problem, on the rims now, I have 205/55-R15's .... so .. I ask you ... what tire size (all season tires) should I be putting on??? Bear in mind that I really want preformance out of my tires and dont care how "comfy" the ride is ... I just read a thread below that say's if you want preformance, stick with 195/55-r15's .... but would a 205/50-r15 lower the aspect ration just enough to give me slightly better handling? Thanks in advance... |
You should put as much rubber on the road as you can. I'd go with the 205/50. The lower profile will not roll as much in a turn.
That said, if you want performance, buy a summer performance tire and get some steel wheels and snow tires from Tire Rack for the winter. |
