Proper Tire PSI Pressure?
 

The PSI indicated on the inside of the drivers door says max 32 PSI. On the tires themselves states Max PSI 53. When purchased from dealer PSI was at 40 PSI.

I hear people using PSI of 43 to 32 PSI.

What should it really be set at! And do you half to watch tire pressure closely in winter on Mazda factory Alloy Rims? I heard that the Allyo rims take twice as long to contract then tires do, so you constantly leak air, until contraction of rims is stable. Anyone have this problem! Waiting for winter myself to verify!

I pump my tires to 35 PSI.

43 PSI is pushing it.

53 is TOO MUCH.

I'd go to about what the inside of the door says. Especially during winter.

43 is the golden rule here, if you have proper winter tires there is no reason to deflate your tires to a lower pressure.

Winter Tires? what why you looking at me like that... Dont people buy winter tires ?

Some people actually resort to putting other gases in their tires, with the promise of 0 or low air leaking. Elements that resist temp. changes.

Why bother!
 

I never purchased winter tires for any vehicle, just all season. I know two people that have a MP5, and they used factory tires through winter! They said great control, never got stuck, go threw snow like butter.

But curious to see what my Alloy rims will look like in spring after all the salt on raods during winter months. Any recomendations on winter rim care?:)

I keep mine at around at the recommended 32 psi. I've tried at 45, 35 and 34. At the higher psi, you will get some better fuel economy but remember the manufacture recommeds 32 psi based on the safety load and speed rating of the tire as well as fuel ecomony and wear. You won't notice much of a difference at anything up to 35. At 45 I got about 5-10km more out of a tank. Inflating your tires over the recommended psi will also throw the speedo off slightly. Things to keep in mind.

Winter Tires
 

Just got my protege (es+gt package) a few months ago.

clean them well with simple green... then use a paint prep.. then wax them.. wheels are just like paint on your car..they are painted then clear coated..
