Progress 22mm sway bar
I installed the progress sway bar about 2 months ago with no problem. Then I started to hear a clanking noise at the rear of my car. The sway bar was colliding with another bar which is attached to the wheel. I took the sway bar off any suggestions?

are you using the factory endlinks? If so, a heavier syaybar will cause them to wear out quicker. Have somebody rock the car from side to side. If its the endlinks, you can feel the movement through them.

Its a 2002 protege5 and the sway bar is a progress 22mm rear sway bar. Pics should be up soon and yes Im using the stock end links but the stock end links are brand new (only about a week old).

I meant which bar was it colliding with ? there are many parts to the suspension that could be referred to as a bar...Being connected to the wheel narrows it down but not much...It's probably either the rear tie bar or the trailing arm you are referring to, but i can't tell from your description

With some pics im sure this could be diagnosed in no time.

I believe its the trailing arm

I'm sure I installed it right, I'll have the pics up next week.

So if you're sure you installed it right that means the bar must be a pretty poor product. I was thinking of getting this sway bar for my Pro sedan. but I don't need it to be hitting on my trailing links or anything else for that matter. Could it be the fact that the bar is too long?
Would it be better to get a smaller one (like the 19.5 mm AWR bar)? If the clanking is something minor which can be fixed, then maybe I get it. But if not, Im guessing it would be better to spend the extra dollars on the AWR bar, right? |
just get the MSP swaybar kit
