potential new protege owner !

I know this may be quite annoying once in a while someone comes in and pop this question : "Is this car worth buying? whats the typical problem i should expect ? How is the built quality?"

Well, i hope some of you would be able to give me some honest and objective comments about the protege5. Other cars i am considering are RSX, Civics Si. I know these may not be the same category of cars, but just my possible choices.

anywyas, being a CL owner myself, i am more leaning towards the RSX (love the VTECs) hehe..

Anyways, thanx in advance.

I had the sedan for two years and got the Protege 5 in jan. I love it. Not to say that I would not love the RSX or Si. I need four doors though so I probably would not opt for those you mentioned.

I had no problems with my sedan and none yet with the PR5. I love the car and it is quick enough. Could be faster but if I was looking for a fast car I would get a mustang or 02' camaro. The protege is a well handling car.

For $17,000-$18,000 USD you can get a loaded protege 5. If I could have gotten my hands on a Mazda Speed Protege (MSP) for $20k I would be driving that now. Maybe they are easier to get your hands on one for the 2003.5 MSP.

All three cars you mentioned are nice cars, just you personal preference will make the final choice. I think the Protege's are a great car and I have no concerns with them being a reliable car in the long run.

Good luck with your choice.

Well if you are looking for a good daily driver that will get you where you are going in style, haul the groceries, get the kids to school and back, get decent milage.....the P5 is a great choice. For the money....I don't think you can buy a better looking car. Its very reliable, looks great, handles like a slotcar, and is very functional. I like them so much I baught TWO!

a few problems with the infamous "engine pinging" but its not detrimental to the engine
