Planning to remove both grills & respray. should i??

Hey people!

I was looking for some advice..

Im planning to:

-remove my upper and lower grills.
-clean them
-spray them with primer
-then spray them with a chrome-effect paint
-spray them with sealer/clearcoat
-put them back in.

So i get bright silver looking grills, that stand out against my red car... (i dont want to replace the grills with real metal mesh...)

Is that a good idea? A few people were worried that the paint would just peel off after a while and it would end up looking like crap....

Opinions???

thanks....

If you are... make sure to scuff them and use adhesion promoter. Other than that, it should work fine. You can get scuff pads from your local auto paint supply company, or sometimes your Chain Auto parts places will carry them.

Yeah, I was thinking that, too. I'm sure it can be done but that is
something I would never have the patience for!

Not really, just angle the spray can and take your time, and you'll be fine. I had to do something similar to a car when I was in high school vocational tech.

yea i was planning to spray it on an angle... seems that it should get inside all the honeycombs.

meh.

ill see how it goes...

Yah, it doesn't matter how well you paint it you will eventually have to paint it and repaint every once in a while. So if you don't want to have to worry about repainting it on a regular basis I would not paint it
