Wow....was that knob made specifically for the Protege? With the silver/black leather plus the dimples it seems so.

naw its not specificaly ment for the protege but i think i read some where that the new MS pro will have these shift knobs...which might explain why it took me 4 weeks of being on back order to get one

it costed me $60 cdn

Very nice...and not a bad price. But how come the boot doesn't seem to fit snug againt the knob?

noodles July-18th-2002 08:36 AM

Can you post a DIY for changing shift knobs? Was it hard to do? How long did it take you and what tools did you need?

You don't need any tools, just turn counter clockwise and it's off :)

nightowl July-18th-2002 10:24 AM

sthe old knob just screws off, the new one uses three alen key screws (alen key was provided with knob)

firefly July-18th-2002 11:19 AM

Can you tell me where you get it? And is it possible to make the boot fit right againt the bottom of the know?

no its not posible to have the shifter boot up tight cause that silver piece you see at the bottom of the knob....well that screws up and covers the three allen key screws that hold the shift knob in place

i ordered the knob from a performace automotive store called speed style........just goto one of your automotive stores and have them order it

MOMO has an adapter that allows the MOMO shift boot to attach to it and then it screws to the bottom of the shift knob. Many aftermarket boots could be fitted to this adapter and it should fit most knobs too! Check your local Ricer/Speed shop :D
