Performance : Timing belt, any connection?
Might sound dumb as a question, but is there a link to worn belts and performance?
either from stretching or what ever? Cheers |
nope not really. even on cars with timing chains there is no real benefit other than no need to replace it every 60K miles.
I did heed your advise and forked over the extra money to replace the waterpump, instead of run the chance ;)
good deal. I think you'll sleep better at night knowing it's done and not wondering "what if".
Unless of corse you manage to slip a tooth on one of the cams.. this could make a drastic change to the performance ;)
you'd have to SERIOUSLY spin that crank to make it slip...unless the tensioner is broken....It's a very strong tensioner....almost aggrevatingly strong...wait until you swap cams or replace the belt!
is there anything in there that I should think about changing, Cam.S or etc? anything worth upgrading in the internals?
and whats the cost |
It can only help to replace internals, but its probably gonna wind up getting pricey, which reminds me I looked on corksport for the first time in a while and in the 99-03 protege section they have eibach valve springs...when did someone FINALLY make us valve springs? I've never seen them before now :bounce:
